The Sewall-Scripture House is owned and operated by the Sandy Bay Historical Society, which has stocked it with exhibits, furnishings, artworks, and other artifacts representing domestic life in the 1830s, when it was built. Visitors can tour such old-fashioned residential features as a Victorian Parlor and a Keeping Room, viewing along the way such treasures as a vintage parlor organ, and paintings by notable Cape Ann artists Fitz Hugh Lane, Aldro Hibbard, and Alfred Wiggin. The house lies downtown, on the west side of Union Cemetery.
Museum open mid- June - mid-Sep: Mon. - Sat. 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
